So after more research and a change of design and colour plan I began making the tiara.

Step 1: measure out a piece of silver wire – I measured out 100cm but I would recommend for this design now about 150cm of wire
Step 2: Place beads in a nice order on a bead tray to make sure the colour combination looks good and to get an idea of the layout.
Step 3: Fold over one end of the wire and thread the beads onto it (the folded end stops the beads from falling off)
Step 4: Start in the middle of the tiara band and wrap the wire round tightly to one end and repeat with the other side.
Step 5: Using flat nose pliers make sure the folded end is tight and then you are done!

I’ve got to say that I did find making it really difficult. Starting from the centre was exceptionally hard so could suggest if you have an even design starting from one end and working across.

Step 2: Research.

Its all well and good having the equipment but looking at other designs and figuring out what would look nice is key. I have found some really beautiful designs on both Folksy and Etsy and think that I want to keep the design simple.I’ve made some cake jewellery before and sort of know some of the wrapping and looping techniques which I think is a bonus.

I’ve now come up with my first concept design which I created on photoshop:

This design however would be in silver not gold. – gold is for illustration only as I thought the design would look clearer.
I’m pretty pleased with it as a first attempt with the concept drawing and think it could be the one?

A good friend of mine is getting married and I offered to make her a tiara. I have never made one before so thought that I would blog about how I get along with making one and how I go about doing it.
Step 1: prepare the equipment.

• Silver plated tiara band
• Silver plated wire (coper base)
• Grey fresh water pearls
• White fresh water pearls
• E600 glue
• Measuring tape
• Round nose pliers
• Flat nose pliers
• Side cutters

Fingers crossed this is all I need to complete the tiara that she wants.

Step two tomorrow when I attempt making it.
